The goals of the game:
  1. Make your character wealthy.
  2. Keep your character alive and healthy.
  3. Have fun!
Sessions

Each session determines the days of the week and times of day that their unique game world will be available. Players need not play 100% of the time available but whenever it fits their schedule. Each session also has its own exchange rate. For a basic session characters are $20-$100. Other sessions can be $60-$300 or $100-$500 all the way up to $400-$2000 ($1 million in treasure!). Players play every week for 3 to 10 years of "game time" (less in real time, of course).

Character Skills and Attributes

Your "moves" in this game are your character's actions and the actions of characters whom you lead or influence. The success of those actions depends upon thier skills and attributes.

Strength

Stength determines how hard your character hits, how much she can lift, and similar results. Initially proportional to size, strength can be affected due to nutrition, excercise, potions and illness.

Size

Size is the height and build of your character. Small characters have more endurance, agility, and stealth. Larger characters eat and rest more, but have more brute force.

Mind Body Coordination (MBC)

Dexterity, intelect, focus and memory are all encapsulated in MBC. How quickly your character learns a skill, how accurately he throws a spear and how well he draws a map are all influenced by this attribute.

Tension

Every character begins with the same MBC. There are a few factors which can increase it, but the main factor which decreases it is tension. Tension is the effect of fear, discomfort, and danger on the mind. If you balance danger and suffering in the ruins, or on the battlefield with relaxation and comfort in towns or the homes of friends, your character will remain more effective than one who is in constant peril.

Founders

Most characters begin the game with gold coins which they use to outfit themselves, cover their living expenses and invest. Founders are characters who start the game with goods to sell and part ownership of a business (farm, inn, store or workshop/mine) in place of cash. This jump starts the economy and provides a socio-economic infrastructure which characters can join.

Time

A day of game time takes about 20 minutes of real time. This allows your character to travel, build and adventure very quickly. He can even have children and watch them grow up if you play long enough!

Stories

Stories are key. Each player begins the game with a library of stories from the previous generations. These can provide general information about living and working in the world, as well as keys to specific quests and adventures. Sharing stories with other players helps adventurers succede.

Family Effects & Friendship

If you make your character attack a family member he will do it. However, he will be so anquished and emotionally conflicted that he won't fight very well. By contrast, his potential victim will be so outraged that he will fight with great fury and power! This makes it hard to fight your family, but easier to trust them. Family effects apply to a lesser extent to people your character is romantically involved with, and friends.

Children

After an easy three week pregnancy, a female character can give birth to a child. Children grow rapidly in this game, and are easy to care for. After about a year of game time, kids are usually ready for hibernation (see the story). If your character dies while one of his kids is in hibernation, you can continue playing the game by controling the child when it emerges as an adult. Otherwise, someone new will control them.
